|Modifications: ||June 2016: Lots of rust, rather large hole in rockers, floor pan, spare area and a dissolving frame rail. Avg paint will poor prep (no skim coat?) Didn't hear run. Seller, who seemed like a nice guy and sent follow up photos, just replaced head gasket (failure between cylinders)and said that he has done lots of mechanical work (is a mechanic). I liked the car but didn't make sense for me, even at $13k.|
|General History: ||Ad in Hemmings April 2016
As stated, this 1971 2800cs automatic for sale has 76,000 original miles. Mechanically this vehicle needs nothing. Engine runs like new and suspension is solid. Head gasket recently replaced. New air filter, spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, distributor rotor, and upgraded carbs. Carbs have been tuned and timing has been adjusted. Transmission has been serviced. New interstate battery and wiper motor. New front brake pads, rotors, and brake hoses. New rear brake shoes, drums, cylinders, and hardware. New Goodyear Integrity tires and a new rear muffler and tailpipe. Maintenance and repair records available.
The exterior paint is in newish condition. There are some rust areas that need attention. Mostly along the framerail/front and rear fenders (see pictures). The interior could also use a little work. The front leather seats have normal wear and tear and the rears are tearing. Some of the interior trim pieces are coming off of the panels and the dashboard has cracking.
Overall for the age and mileage of the vehicle, it is in pretty good shape. Looking for someone to take good care of this and hopefully restore the body and interior to like new condition. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
